Structural plywood flooring from Big River Group met the requirements of a high rise boutique apartment project in Melbourne.

The One9 Hall St Apartment Tower in Moonee Ponds was based on the Unitised Building (UB) System, a prefabricated construction method created by architect Nonda Katsalidis, wherein the rooms are split into transportable units, manufactured in a quality controlled factory environment offsite utilising sophisticated assembly line systems, transported to the site and craned into position in the building.

The One9 project featured 34 boutique apartments with 20 sheets of Big River plywood used in each unit. Full compliance with AS 2269 and the Building Code of Australia (BCA) gave the builder, Hickory Group every confidence in Big River’s structural plywood flooring.

About the One9 project

The 34 residential apartments with 6 star energy rating are spread across nine levels in single and two bedroom configurations. Key features include tiled balconies, split system units, kitchenettes installed complete with final plumbing and electrical services, and double glazed windows for thermal and acoustic performance.

Common facilities include a rooftop garden with BBQ, comfortable furnishings and lush greenery, grey water recycling, and solar hot water panels on the roof.

The project was completed in 2013. Big River supplied 38mm thick H2 treated CD structural plywood flooring.
