Australia’s timber flooring expert, Big River Timbers has introduced a
new generation of engineered Australian hardwood flooring in the market.
Backed by Big River’s strong reputation for quality and assurance since
the introduction of its market-leading Armourfloor engineered hardwood flooring
in 1998, the newly developed flooring offers an attractive solution for
builders, architects and homeowners who are seeking the stability of the proven
Armourfloor product in a more economical design. Armourfloor’s stability comes
from its unique construction of five layers of Australian eucalyptus hardwood
veneer.
Big River’s new timber flooring consists of a thick top layer of
Australian hardwood over an engineered eucalyptus plywood core; the hardwood
eucalyptus core ensures optimum stability is guaranteed between the floorboards
with reduced risk of bending and cupping.
Key features of Big River’s prefinished engineered flooring include a heavy-duty
face veneer consisting of a 4mm genuine Australian hardwood layer with the
dense veneer sawn rather than peeled to provide the appearance of solid timber
flooring; highly protective UV cured coating on veneer ensuring the floor will
remain fresh in appearance for many years; fast, simple and economical
installation through a simple tongue and groove connecting system; suitable for
virtually any flat surface including concrete, tiles and existing timber floors;
and 20-year limited warranty against wear-through under normal residential
usage.
Specifications include board dimensions of 2200mm x 133mm x 15mm; engineered
plywood core as substrate; tongue and groove joining system; 4mm Australian
hardwood veneer; and UV cured coating finish.
Australia is well known for producing some of the most attractive

available in five Australian hardwood timber species including Australian
Chestnut, Blackbutt, Spotted Gum, Sydney Blue Gum and Brushbox.
Big River’s prefinished product is sanded, coated and sealed in the
factory; the existing Armourfloor raw is also available for coating onsite for
those who have specific staining and finishing requirements.
All Big River engineered flooring is milled from managed regrowth and
plantation forest hardwoods. Big River hardwood is Australian Forestry Standard
(AFS) certified.

warranty against warping, buckling or bond failure.
