Armourpanel decorative plywood from Big River Timbers is highly preferred by leading award-winning architects when designing residential or commercial interiors.

Appreciated for its versatility, stability, strength and visual aesthetics by architects, builders and homeowners seeking a superior product at a lower price, the plywood offers simplicity, warmth and texture to create intimate and inviting environments. Armourpanel decorative plywood panels combine the stunning intimacy of native timbers with the rugged durability of a precision-engineered structural product.

Armourpanel’s strength comes from its unique construction method that has five layers of Australian hardwood sheets bonded together in a cross-ply manufacturing process to form a solid, stable panel.

A popular choice for both residential and light commercial building interiors, Armourpanel is recommended for flooring, wall panelling, screening, cabinetry, joinery and ceiling linings.

Key features and benefits of Armourpanel decorative plywood include high strength characteristics making it ideal for hardwearing areas; ability to withstand a range of harsh climatic conditions; greater resistance to shrinkage than solid timber boards; and supplied as 2400mm x 1200mm sheets or 1800mm x 1200mm sheets optionally in 15mm, 18mm or 21mm thickness.

Armourpanel’s face veneer panels are available in a range of native species including Blackbutt, Flooded Gum, Spotted Gum and Sydney Blue Gum, all maintaining the natural characteristics of the selected wood species including unique grain structures. Water-based and solvent-based stains and oil and wax finishes can be used on the panels.

Nic Owen Architects used Big River Armourpanel in their North Fitzroy House project where the challenge was to transform a heritage-listed family home into an updated space to accommodate their growing family.

Timber has been extensively used throughout the fit-out, with Big River Armourpanel selected for the timber flooring for its beautiful texture and hardwearing finish. Big River timber was also used for the joinery, which included a study desk and a substantial kitchen benchtop, to add warmth and individuality to the interior.
