The finalists for the Australian International Design Awards have been announced.
A range of products designed in Australia and internationally have the potential to receive the award, including the Herman Miller Embody office chair, the Miele 90 cm wide pyrolytic oven, Sanyo's waterproof digital movie camera, a battery-heated watersuit and an onboard marine safety device.
The Australian International Design Awards offer consumers an objective insight into the quality, design and innovation of professionally designed products that are available for purchase in Australia.
In addition to judgement on visual and stylistic appeal, each product is inspected to ascertain its functionality, environmental impact, innovation and human factors. These qualities are routinely considered by industrial designers and manufacturers across the world.
The Australian International Design Awards ceremony will take place on Friday 29 May, 2009.
