New and creative architectural projects from Far North Queensland are in the running for top honours at the Australian Institute of Architects’ annual Far North Queensland Regional Architecture Awards that take place on the 13th May.    

A total of 18 projects from Mission Beach to Port Douglas and west to Mareeba will be competing for Region Commendations at the awards. The projects entered for the awards include soaring sports centres, university buildings, a new international passenger cruise terminal and inspiring family homes.  

All commendation recipients automatically qualify for the prestigious Queensland Architecture Awards in Brisbane on 24 June.  

Malcolm Middleton, Queensland Architecture Awards Jury Director, will announce Far North Queensland winners at a special awards ceremony commences at 6pm on Friday 13th May at Walter McCormack Place.
