Australian Forestry Standard  has developed a standard development procedure within the Australian Forest Certification Scheme. Australian Forestry Standard is a non-profit company that owns standard development functions. The Australian Forest Certification Scheme from Australian Forestry Standard promotes the culture of continuous improvement of sustainable forest management practices. Australian Forestry Standard manages the elements of the Australian Forest Certification Scheme.

The standard development procedure was constituted with help of various committees by Australian Forestry Standard. The technical content of the Australian Forestry Standard was created by The Australian Forestry Standard Technical Reference Committee. This Australian Forestry Standard Technical Reference Committee is responsible for content of the chain of custody standards. The committee consists of four classes namely government, forestry and wood products sectors, general, employee representative organisations.

Australian Forestry Standard is an accredited standard development organisation and this accreditation was provided by Accreditation Board for Standards Development Organisation. Australian Forestry Standard develops standards development in accordance with its scope for accreditation. Australian Forestry Standard is also responsible for reviewing the process for the Australian Forestry standards.
