It could easily have been mistaken for the latest fashion creations by top designers for David Jones as six professional models strutted the catwalk. In fact, it was the launch for ‘It’s a Fashion Thing’, showcasing the latest contemporary and fashionable Austral Bricks products on the market.

The Museum of Contemporary Art at The Rocks in Sydney, across the water from the Opera House, was the ideal venue for a stunning presentation, perfectly choreographed, for an audience that included a who’s who in home building and design, architecture, colour consultation, builders and country resellers.

As the models strutted the 7.2 metre catwalk in specially selected clothes, Nicky Buckley, the glamorous host for the event, introduced each new product and its colour palette. The models carried hand-held boards, which had brick facings on them, or they held actual product in the case of Riviera pavers.

The impact was amazing with the audience enthusiastically caught up in the moment of fashion, flair and style. Here was innovation by a building products company bringing contemporary fashion to the construction industry.

“We wanted to make sure we made a big impact with the new products, right from the start. We certainly did that and in style. The products promoted were Terraçade TL, Urban One, Bowral 50, Riviera Freedom pavers and the GB masonry blocks.

“In addition to the catwalk presentation, displays were constructed strategically around the room and were creatively spot lit as each range was unveiled on the catwalk. It was very professional, and judging by the feedback and interest in the new products we received after the presentation, it was a big success,” Brett Ward, Austral Bricks NSW retail sales & marketing manager said.

A feature of the afternoon was a handbag made out of brick. A live demonstration was also conducted on stage to promote the stain resistance qualities of Riviera Freedom pavers.

Austral Bricks demonstrated, by the launch of ‘It’s a Fashion Thing’, that it is a leader in developing building products of the future. But, just as importantly, the company is a leader in style and fashions for Australian homes and major construction projects.
