Kieran Mclnerney Architects selected Foamular metric extruded polystyrene insulation to achieve energy efficiency as well as great design outcomes in a new home in Vaucluse.

Having used Foamular as external insulation on a number of projects, architect Kieran McInerney once again selected the extruded polystyrene insulation material to achieve stunning results in design, build quality and energy efficiency.

Designed by Kieran McInerney Architects, the Vaucluse construction was project managed by Tricon Developments with Foamular insulation fixed and rendered by Europlex.

Foamular extruded polystyrene insulation combines an excellent thermal rating of R2.67 (for 75mm) with high impact resistance, making it the ideal substrate for modern acrylic render coatings. The closed cell insulation product is ideal for applications requiring high thermal resistance.

The Vaucluse project also saw the use of Foamular XPS as an underslab insulation material in various parts of the build. Foamular was used as a thermal barrier under the slab to improve the energy efficiency of the floor heating system. As a thermal barrier, Foamular minimises heat loss so less energy is required to maintain slab temperature, leading to lower operating costs and reduced greenhouse gas emissions.
