Ausco Modular delivered a building expansion for the early learning centre at Billanook College within a tight deadline, getting the extension ready in time for the new school year.

An exclusive private school on the north-eastern outskirts of Melbourne, Billanook College caters for students from Prep to Year 12. The College also includes an early learning centre for pre-prep education, which needed to be expanded to accommodate a greater intake of students at the beginning of the 2013 school year.

Ausco Modular was contracted by the College in September 2012 to supply the expanded early learning centre, with a critical requirement that the modular building be delivered and installed prior to the beginning of the new school year in January 2013.

The brief also required the learning centre’s aesthetic design to complement the architecture and finishes of the existing school buildings.

Ausco Modular used a combination of external cladding materials to match the existing structures. A dark brick render was used on two sides of the building, and a white Colorbond sealed the front, highlighting Ausco Modular’s ability to adapt standard designs to any environment or design specification.

Ausco Modular delivered the building within the required timeframe. Though the staff had initial reservations over the suitability of a portable, modular building for their school, they were very pleased with the outcomes including the cost-effectiveness of the build, the speed of the install, and the aesthetic integration of the building with the rest of the College.
