THE Herston Medical Research Centre located in the Royal Brisbane Hospital, Queensland, features a Specific Pathogen Free (SPF) facility.

Such a laboratory requires the highest standards of bio-containment to prevent transmission of contaminants into or out of the space. This has been achieved by the use of Sealeck High Containment Inflatable Seal Doors constructed to meet the requirements of PC4.

The doors provide access into a Decontamination Chamber and are coupled with fully controlled fumigation and exhaust systems. The doors feature unique inflatable seals and a seamless stainless steel finish.

They are operated by a complex control system that ensures safe transfer of goods or people while preventing leakage of fumigant to the surrounding laboratory. The flush finish enables easy passage while maintaining the safety of a full seal and locking function when required.
