SJB has appointed Brodie Blades as an associate in its Melbourne studio.

Blades is an accomplished urban designer who specialises in pragmatically ‘bridging the gap’ between urban design and development regulation, says the firm, adding that he is fluent in both design and statutory regulation and is driven to facilitate urban design outcomes that are responsive, elegant and authentic.

In addition to his masterplanning and design policy skillset, Blades has been called upon to provide urban design expert evidence in numerous complex matters before Planning Tribunals and Panels in Victoria - including multiple central-city Melbourne matters on behalf of the Victorian minister for Planning.

“Great urban design requires a great team, and I am excited to be joining one that shares my drive for quality design and meaningful collaboration,” says Blades.

SJB urban design director Amanda Roberts says, “Brodie’s appointment strengthens the SJB Urban team. Our primary focus is to encourage people who are passionate about what we do and can successfully collaborate with our clients, providing accurate and informed guidance delivering outstanding results for the built environment."
