The Australian Institute of Architects’ Queensland Chapter has elected Michael Lavery into the role of president.

Michael Lavery is a director of m3architecture and has long been an advocate for the power of well-considered design to deliver positive environmental, cultural and economic outcomes for Queensland communities. Michael was elected as President by members of the Institute.

“Architecture has the capacity to deliver truly transformational change,” Lavery says.

“As we face unprecedented environmental and population challenges, our profession is uniquely positioned to deliver places which will nurture, protect and positively impact generations to come,” he adds.

Improving the design of Queensland’s buildings and public spaces, through government and private-sector consultation and advocacy, are chief among his aspirations for his tenure as president.

He also says that he hopes to raise the public profile of architects and the valuable contribution they make to our cities and communities.
