Laurie Aznavoorian joins Bates Smart in the role of Strategy and Research lead, exploring the spatial and psychological impact of COVID-19.

According to the design firm, with her background in architecture, design and strategy, Aznavoorian will be able to provide unique insights into the role that buildings and interiors play in supporting business objectives, brand positioning, culture and the psychological mindset of the human beings who interact with these spaces.

Her recent work on the impact of physical environment on professional networks, community and belonging will complement Bates Smart’s remote working study.

“We are in a unique position to recalibrate the way we think about space and interpret the role it plays in post COVID society. Our shared experiences these past months, combined with the profound impact of emerging technologies like AR, 3D printing and new construction techniques, lays the foundation for a new lexicon articulating how we work, learn, live and restore. This promises to be one of the most exciting and influential times of my career,” says Aznavoorian.
