Decor + Design has announced that applications for VIVID 2014, Australia’s longest running design competition are now open to the public.
In its 12th year, VIVID 2014 will feature at Decoration + Design, Australia’s largest furniture and furnishings trade fair, with the co-located Furnitex. The top 70 entrants will be showcased from 10-13 July 2014 at the fair which will be held at The Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre.
$10,000 in cash prizes is up for grabs and will be shared across the student, concept, commercial, lighting and green categories.
$1,000 will be awarded for the successful student, concept and green winners, while $2,000 will be awarded to the commercial category winner.
The Beacon Lighting Award, which is also in its first year as a category, will feature a $5,000 prize.
The applications are open only to design students and professionals with a maximum 5 years industry experience, ensuring the “emerging designer” theme is kept.
Curator of VIVID Scott Lewis says the awards are intended to assist the winners in furthering their product design careers with industry support, offering emerging designers a platform for market traction.
“VIVID is one of the most exciting elements of Decor + Design, as we discover the next generation of design talent. My role as curator is not only to showcase emerging designers, but to provide them with a launching pad into the design industry.”
“VIVID aims to connect designers with local and international industry stakeholders to foster opportunities and enhance their exposure”.
