Sydney based architects Tony Owen Partners are at the helm of two new  projects which aim to break away from what the firm describe as the 'egg crate' look.

Breeze at Drummoyne, Sydney, is a waterfront project which will have a 12 berth marina next to Peppercorn Park with the façade to be clad entirely of laser cut metal panels with timber screens.

Timber louvers and screens on the balconies are also a key aspect of the design with the interior to be made up of marble floors, bespoke timber veneer feature walls and large polyurethane kitchens with marble splashbacks and bench tops.

The communal lobby will be stone clad and has a four storey-high space facing the harbour with a large water feature and light sculpture.

Tony Owen said:

“Sydney is such a beautiful, relaxed city that its residents deserve to live in truly beautiful spaces rather than lifeless apartment boxes.”

The apartments range from 174sqm to 301sqm internally, plus external spaces from 20sqm to 95sqm.

The second development is located at Sylvania and will be made up of 20 L-shaped townhouses above a sandstone escarpment on Georges River.

The houses will be in 'stark white'

“We have stacked them so that living areas address a terrace on the roof of the unit in front. This ensures all dwellings maximise outdoor space with solar access,” Owen said.

“The bedroom level below addresses the lower green courtyard.”

“We are committed to designing projects that are special, and these two represent a different approach to Sydney housing.”
