Japanese architect Terunobu Fujimori has completely covered the facade of a Tokyo home with a soft metallic aluminium coating.

The ‘Soft-Hard Aluminium House’ certainly catches the eye as it stands alongside the other, fairly typical Japanese homes located on the residential street.

Fujimori considered the use of space in his design, dramatically cantilevering the gabled end of the house to provide a spot for off street parking.

In contrast to its futuristic looking exterior, the interior of the home is quite modest, with white plaster walls, wooden details and minimal windows.

The building was completed by Fujimori and members of the ‘Jomon Kenchiku Dan’ – a non-professional construction group composed of Fujimori’s friends, students, and ex-students from the University of Tokyo.
