Former Sustainability Awards finalists Quintessential Equity has been selected to develop the new $120 million headquarters of WorkSafe Victoria in Geelong.

Designed by Peckvonhartel, the 14-storey building – the tallest in Geelong – celebrates the heritage of the site at 1 Malop Street by incorporating the historic 90-year-old Dalgety & Co building into the new development.

The relocated WorkSafe Victoria headquarters will house more than 700 workers and contractors across 15,000 square metres of A-grade office space. The building will be targeting a 6-star Green Star rating and 5 star NABERS rating.

Designed to provide excellent work-life balance to the occupants, the new building will feature a concierge, café, gym and club style end-of-trip facilities with showers, lockers and bike racks. Peckvonhartel says the external facade enhances natural light throughout and provides ocean views.

Describing the development as an ‘office building of the future’ that will meet WorkSafe’s core business needs, Quintessential Equity Director Shane Quinn said the headquarters will set a new gold standard for regional office accommodation by providing a high quality, bespoke workspace.

The decision to restore the existing Dalgety & Co building was based on its iconic status in Geelong’s history and community.

Work on the new 14-storey commercial office tower by construction firm Built will begin soon.
