Sydney's Cumberland Council has approved a new mixed use development designed by Plus Architecture in the western Sydney suburb of Merrylands.

Comprising of three buildings on a 2.5ha site, the $808 million development known as 'The Opera' is one of several infrastructure projects in Sydney’s west, reflecting the significant revitalisation of Merrylands and transformation into an important residential and commercial hub.

The Opera’s development will kick off with the construction of ‘Concerto’, the first of three buildings planned for the site. Representing the project’s first development stage, the $91 million Concerto will offer 365 residential apartments and a large commercial area, and will be ready in 2021.

Scheduled to be completed in 2023, The Opera is designed to provide 1,200 apartments and 2,500 square metres of commercial space ideal for a diverse range of businesses including childcare and medical centres, fitness centres, cafes and restaurants.
