Conrad Gargett announces a series of new appointments to Senior Associate and Associate positions at their Sydney and Brisbane studios.

Mark Cassar from the firm's Sydney office and Luke Pendergast from the Brisbane office were appointed Senior Associates, while Luke Blake, Malcolm Elliott, Paul Emmett, Ben Grassick, YE Ng and Michael Scott, all from the Brisbane studio, were appointed as Associates.

Managing Director Bruce Wolfe said the appointments were reflective of the commitment and contribution made by various team members to the firm.

Senior Associate

Mark Cassar – Sydney

Cassar has worked on numerous types of buildings with varying uses over his 25-year career in the architectural industry. Specialising in the evolution of concept and schematic designs into functional buildings, Cassar ensures the integrity of each design is maintained while still assessing constructability, economy and program issues. Cassar also recognises that the success of every project and the delivery process is reliant on forming and managing a motivated architectural and consultant project team and working towards collaboration between all disciplines.

Luke Pendergast – Brisbane

Having worked with large institutional clients, Pendergast has a practical approach to architecture, which combined with a strong work ethic and high level communication and organisational skills, make him a competent project leader, focused on achieving the best outcome for each project. Pendergast’s project experience includes aged care, healthcare, scientific laboratories, teaching and learning spaces, industrial kitchens, office accommodation, retail fitout and adaptive reuse of heritage listed buildings.

Associate

Luke Blake – Brisbane

Blake is highly proficient in Revit architecture, assisting in the implementation and training of Building Information Modelling (BIM) software. He is also involved in the drafting and BIM management of major projects. Blake’s work experience covers a wide range of projects from small house additions to large-scale sustainable developments.

Malcolm Elliott – Brisbane

Elliot has 18 years of rich architectural experience across the public and private sectors, having served as Conservation Planner for North Sydney Council, and Principal Urban Designer and Principal Heritage Officer at Brisbane City Council. Elliot holds specialised expertise in planning processes and negotiating adaptive reuse and redevelopment of heritage sites. A passion for historic buildings drives his enthusiasm for adaptive reuse of heritage structures while also maintaining commercial viability, ensuring optimal redevelopment outcomes are achieved.

Paul Emmett – Brisbane

A well respected team member at Conrad Gargett, known for his innovative design and problem-solving skills, Emmett specialises in health planning and has worked on multiple projects including St Stephen’s Hospital, Hervey Bay, Australia’s first fully integrated digital hospital as well as the award-winning $1.5B Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital, Brisbane. Emmett’s ability to establish trusting working relationships with clients makes him a critical team member on every project.

Ben Grassick – Brisbane

An Industrial Designer with a keen interest in product design and complex facility design, Grassick combines technical expertise with his commitment to high levels of consultant and document co-ordination, ensuring the successful delivery of quality design. Grassick’s focus on the end user in his work ensures their needs are appropriately addressed. He has worked on a diverse range of projects across various industry sectors, including defence, education and health.

YE Ng – Brisbane

An experienced and accomplished member of the Conrad Gargett team, Ng is regarded as an innovative thinker in her approach to designs. Proficient in both English and Chinese, Ng has a high understanding of international projects and its cultural requirements. Her extensive project experience ranges from cultural heritage, complex hospital developments and teaching and learning spaces to office accommodation and multi-residential units in aged care.

Michael Scott – Brisbane

Scott is a Senior Heritage Architect at Conrad Gargett and the heritage advisor for Toowoomba Regional Council. Scott specialises in conservation architecture, providing a large range of heritage reports, strategic advice, repair and maintenance advice, expert witness services and design for large and small scale projects. Scott previously worked for the Brisbane City Council where he was involved in establishing heritage and character controls for the Council.
