Lessons in sound: Shea Trahan’s TED Talk shows the relationship between sound quality and architecture dimensions

    Nathan Johnson

“By finely tuning the dimensionally qualities [of buildings] we can achieve the frequencies that we wish. We can create hyper resonate and hyper reverberant spaces, these ideal sound baths.”—Shea Trahan

In a recent TEDx talk, Louisiana Architect Shea Trahan discusses his findings from an investigation into sound in architecture which saw him visit and document the sound performance of buildings all over the world. He uses a series of live sound demonstrations and prototype models to demonstrate how sound can be manipulated through the alteration of the dimensional qualities of buildings.
