Lendlease will provide planning, programming, logistics and supervision to transform existing facilities into world-class competition venues ensuring that both athlete and support experiences are the very best, according to the company.

Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Corporation (GOLDOC) chairman and former Queensland premier Peter Beattie was pleased to welcome Lendlease to the games.

“Lendlease brings to the table experience in delivering projects for major sporting events including the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, London 2012 Olympics, Sydney 2000 Olympics and a whole host of World Cup events," he says.

“Lendlease’s appointment is another step forward in our Games delivery program and I look forward to seeing the venue overlay across Games venues commence later in the year,” says Beattie.

In practical terms, Lendlease will project manage the delivery of 15 competition venues to Games standards across South East Queensland, Townsville and Cairns, and will also be delivering the overlay to the GC2018 Athlete’s Village.

The minister for the Commonwealth Games, Kate Jones, welcomed Lendlease to the GC2018 Games Sponsor Family, and notes that “Lendlease brings its own Elevate Reconciliation Action Plan to the Games, which complements all that we are doing to promote the spirit of reconciliation through the Games.”

Lendlease Building CEO Dale Connor says this partnership will contribute to Australia’s already impressive sporting efforts on the world stage.

“We are a proud Australian company and welcome the opportunity to support our nation as it hosts athletes from all backgrounds to compete and excel on the world stage,” Connor says.
