Techné Architecture + Interior Design was one of the winners at the 2014
Victorian Architecture Awards in the Commercial Architecture category for their
work on the Prahran Hotel.
The Australian Institute of Awards (AIA) program recognises the most
innovative design and architecture works from across Australia with the Victorian
AIA Chapter Awards honouring projects of excellence in Victoria.
Awards are given across eight categories: Small Project, Residential,
Urban Design, Heritage, Public, Residential Multiple, Interior and Commercial Architecture.
One of the most prestigious categories, the Commercial Architecture Award
selection goes through rigorous judging criteria with nominees required to
submit project information and images online, and also assessed by a highly
esteemed judging panel.
Designed by Techné Architecture + Interior Design as an iconic
reinvention of a 1940s pub, the Prahran Hotel is located in High Street,
Prahran. The inspiring and unconventional design by Techné Architecture +
Interior Design has attracted global attention and a host of honours.
Justin Northrop, director of Techné Architects said they were very
honoured to receive the award, given the high calibre of projects competing in
the commercial category.
Winners of each category will now progress to the National Architecture
Awards to be announced on 6 November.
