Facade specialist Seele Group of Companies had a successful show at the BAU 2015 trade fair in Munich recently, with their unique facade solution winning an award for innovation.

The newest addition to the Seele Group of Companies, iconic skin GmbH, presented a totally new type of facade solution at the global construction exhibition. The iconic skin SCF (Self-Conditioning Facade) integrative glass facade element was showcased with the iconic skin GSP (Glass Sandwich Panel), a newly developed facade system for industrial and commercial buildings.

Seele Group marketing manager Christine Schauer explains that iconic skin opens up totally new ways of planning glass facades, incorporating openings and designing building envelopes. The solution also combines the functional and economic advantages of a unitised facade with unprecedented opportunities for adapting single elements to suit individual specifications.

Among visitors who were impressed by the new facade solution were Germany’s building minister, Dr Barbara Hendricks, as well as the jury of the ‘Innovationspreis Architektur + Bauwesen 2015’ award, which acknowledges products and solutions that are highly relevant to architectural quality in building. iconic skin SCF is one of the two main winners of this award for innovation in architecture and building.

Visitors to the Seele Group stand were not only impressed by the iconic skin GSP’s maximum height of 16m, but also its price-performance ratio. The sandwich panel format allows glass to be used cost-effectively as a facade material for industrial and commercial buildings as well.
