A modern DALI lighting system integrated with LOYTEC’s light control and
occupancy detection technology is helping Manchester Airport achieve significant
savings in energy consumption.
The new DALI lighting system was installed in Terminal 2 of Manchester
Airport. British LOYTEC systems integrator Calon integrated the DALI lighting
system with constant light control and occupancy detection, in cooperation with
the company Building Environment Controls. Equipped with LOYTEC components, the
highly efficient DALI system allows annual savings of approximately 3,000 MWH
at the airport.
The LED lighting system is integrated in the airport’s building
management system (BMS) and flight control systems via BACnet, allowing automatic
configuration at each gate according to the flight departure and arrival
schedules, time of day, and ambient light level.
The integrated lighting and control solution features daylight and
occupancy based lighting control; connection to the airport’s Flight
Information System for information regarding occupied gates; and maintenance-free
operation due to the use of LED technology.
The lighting control system will be extended to the public areas of
Terminals 1 and 3.
