Open House Melbourne, a much anticipated event on the Melbourne calendar
will open on 26 July.
Open House Melbourne is a free event, providing access to the city's
most significant buildings. This year’s edition of Open House Melbourne will
cover over 100 buildings across Melbourne on 26 and 27 July from 10am to 4pm.
The annual Open House Melbourne weekend provides a free and rare
opportunity to residents and visitors alike, to access and discover the significance
of over 100 buildings in Melbourne from the perspective of building type, style
and period. The event enables people to engage with their city in different
ways, and helps visitors better understand the legacy of good design and its
role in their future.
This year’s Open House Melbourne will have over 90 buildings with open
access across the weekend where visitors can just turn up on the day. There are
13 buildings that require a ballot entry for a chance to view the building. The
ballot closes Friday 18 July 2014.
The balloted buildings include: Bower House, Cairo
Flats, Channel 9 Studios, Federation Square, Flinders Street Ballroom, Johnston
Collection, Luna Park, Manchester Unity Building, Melbourne Central - Glass
Cone Tour, National Gallery of Victoria, Supreme Court of Victoria, University
of Melbourne - Newman College, and Victoria Barracks.
