The $2 billion Fiona Stanley Hospital in Perth won Brookfield Multiplex
three major honours at the recent 2014 Master Builders-Bankwest Excellence in
Construction Awards.
Brookfield Multiplex won awards for Best Project, Best State Government
Building and Best Healthcare Building (over $500 million).
The Master Builders-Bankwest Excellence in Construction Awards recognise
projects that showcase quality construction in the areas of structure, external
finishes, services, internal finishes and civil works, as well as time
management, value for money, innovation, site management, form and function.
Brookfield Multiplex’s entry Fiona Stanley Hospital will now progress to
the national Master Builders Awards in Canberra on 21 November 2014.
Brookfield Multiplex Regional Managing Director Chris Palandri said the
company has won the top construction award, ‘Best Project’ eight times over the
past 23 years, a track record that reflects their consistency in delivering
projects exceeding industry standards.
As Managing Contractor, Brookfield Multiplex was responsible for full
project management, design, construction, testing, commissioning and transition
support. Work began on the project in September 2009 and the hospital’s seven
buildings and two decked car parks were completed by December 6, 2013, 17 days
ahead of schedule and within budget.
The largest design and construct project ever undertaken by Brookfield
Multiplex, Fiona Stanley Hospital is also the Western Australian Government's
biggest infrastructure project to date, supported by the Australian Government
with a contribution of $255.7 million for the new State rehabilitation service.
The Fiona Stanley Hospital’s 32-hectare precinct comprises of several buildings
including Education, Pathology, Main Hospital, Mental Health, Administration, State
Rehabilitation, Central Energy Plant, and two decked carparks.
