BIM, CAD and green building to lead Hong Kong building show

    Hong Kong Trade Development Council

Several innovative products encompassing building technologies, design software and green building concepts will be on show at the upcoming Hong Kong International Building and Hardware Fair.

Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, the ninth edition of Hong Kong International Building and Hardware Fair will be held 29 October - 1 November 2014 at the AsiaWorld Expo. Featuring close to 180 exhibitors including from Portugal and Turkey, the exhibition will display a broad array of building materials and hardware products. The fair will also include 14 exhibitors from the Huzhou, Zhejiang province of the Chinese mainland who will showcase their latest green building materials and decorations in the Huzhou Pavilion.

Building Information Modelling (BIM) tools are increasingly being adopted by the building and construction sector to holistically manage information from planning, design and construction to the operational stages. The BIM Day, co-organised by the Construction Industry Council, will be held on the first day of the fair (29 October) and will include seminars and project presentations.

Several technological innovations for the building industry will be showcased at the Hong Kong International Building and Hardware Fair including mobile apps such as the VHSmart Mobile Construction management system by VHSoft Technologies (Booth: 8-H08), which allows users to conduct site inspection, job assignment, task progress monitoring, safety management and asset management on their smartphones.

The Autodesk Building Design Suite by Synnex Technology International (HK) Limited (Booth: 8-H01) provides a portfolio of interoperable building design software that supports BIM- and CAD-based workflows to help professionals design, simulate, visualise, and construct better buildings.

Green building materials will be introduced at the trade fair including LTR tiles (Booth: 8-H27) made from a durable, lightweight polycarbonate material that provides an extremely cost effective and discrete integral clear roofing solution, enabling permanent light and shade plus a natural cooling effect.

The Hong Kong International Building and Hardware Fair will also feature a series of seminars, forums and networking events. The final day of the fair (1 November) will be open to the public with the inaugural Ideal Home Mart making available selected products for sale.
