12 Australian hospitality projects have made the
international shortlist for the 2014 Restaurant and Bar Design Awards.
A total of 20 Australian projects were nominated for the
international awards program before the list was trimmed to 827 on 2 July.
Five bar designs by Australian architects and designers will
battle it out in their hotly contested division which features designs from the
Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Africa and the Asia Pacific region.
Brisbane’s Chester Street by Derlot, Donny’s Bar in Sydney
by Luchetti Krelle, The Howler and Mesa Verde by Splinter Society Architecture
and Grant Amon Architects in Melbourne, and the Swerve Designed Palate Hotel
bar in Parramatta have all made the shortlist.
Similarly, the Restaurant category features an extensive
array of entries from all over the globe. Seven Australian projects have been
shortlisted for that category, including Alfredo's (Brisbane) by Derlot, Alpha
(Sydney) and China Republic (Sydney) by DS17, Farmhouse by Nicholas Gurney
(Sydney), Nordburger (Adelaide) by Genesin Studio & Peter Jay Deering, Papi
Chulo (Sydney) by Akin Creative and Penfolds Magill Estate (Adelaide)
Restaurant by Pascale Gomes-Mcnabb Design.
The 2014 Awards ceremony will be held in London on the 25th
September at the Old Truman Brewery.
