Perth’s Midland Railway Workshops will play host to the Australian Institute of Architects’ 2012 National Architecture Awards.

The Institute announced that the event will be held on Thursday 1 November at the colourful collection of early 20th century industrial buildings in Perth’s north-east.

It’s the first time the National Awards have been held in Perth in its 31 year history.

In 2012, the awards program attracted a record 954 entries from around the country and abroad. Following award ceremonies in each state and territory, 140 projects were eligible for consideration by the jury for a National Award.

For the first time, the Institute will be announcing the jury’s shortlist of entries prior to the awards night, to be published on Friday 7 September.
