Creative practitioners from Australia and around the world are invited to submit innovative lighting and projection designs and installations for the next Vivid Sydney, which will take place from 23 May to 9 June 2014.

Owned and managed by the NSW Government’s tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW, Vivid Sydney is the Southern Hemisphere’s biggest annual celebration of light, music and ideas.

Vivid Light is the centrepiece and crowd favourite of Vivid Sydney, with more than 800,000 Sydneysiders and visitors flocking to Sydney’s harbour and surrounds over 18 nights in 2013 to see the city transformed into a colourful after-dark playground of interactive light art sculptures, innovative installations and grand scale 3D-mapped projections.

In 2012, over 300 applications were received for Vivid Light, with 20 per cent coming from outside Australia including Italy, Belgium, New Zealand, France, Canada, the United States of America and the United Kingdom.

Acting Minister for Trade and Investment George Souris says Vivid Sydney was a highlight on the international creative calendar and presented a unique opportunity to showcase light design excellence and innovation to a vast local and international audience in one of the most stunning outdoor stages in the world.

“The event reinforces Sydney’s position as the creative hub of the Asia-Pacific region in addition to offering an outstanding free creative celebration for people of all ages that highlights the best of Sydney in winter,” says Souris.

Vivid Sydney 2013 delivered record crowd numbers with crowd attendance up 60 per cent from the year before and global media coverage in more than 200 countries and territories worldwide.

Expressions of Interest to participate in Vivid Light 2014 close Friday, 4 October 2013. The Vivid Light 2014 Expression of Interest form is available via the website www.vividsydney.com.
