Australian Bryan Douglas has been appointed as the new Secretary General of the Global Lighting Association (GLA) – the peak body for the world’s lighting industry.

Currently the CEO of Lighting Council Australia, Douglas has been an active member of the GLA since its inception and has previously served as chair of its Environment Committee.

Jan Denneman, President of the Global Lighting Association, commended Douglas’ past GLA involvement and says she believes his knowledge and insight on the future of the lighting industry is encouraging.

“We are very pleased to welcome Bryan in this capacity,” she said.

“He has been an active and influential member of the GLA and understands the transition the industry is in.

“We look forward to his continued participation, insight, and leadership.”

The position is based in Canberra so Douglas will undertake the role in addition to his current position as CEO of Lighting Council Australia.

Douglas believes his appointment will provide Lighting Council Australia with special insights at a time of significant change in the global lighting industry.

“With the advent of large scale ledification and digitalisation, and the associated profound growth in manufacturing, it is an exciting time to assume the role of Secretary General of the Global Lighting Association,” he said.
