French designer Vivien Muller has created a solar powered charger based on the form of a Japanese bonsai tree.

The Electree Mini device has flexible leaves made from photovoltaic panels, supported by branches that can be manipulated to optimize exposure to the sun.

The harnessed energy is stored in small rechargeable batteries that can be used to power gadgets.

Clip in modules can be integrated, turning the Electree Mini into a USB charging station for your smartphone.

The completely autonomous device also lights up automatically at dusk and changes colour with a simple rotation.

Muller has launched an Indiegogo crowd funding campaign to help pay for the manufacturing of the Electree Mini.
