Diversified Communications has announced that it will not be running designEX 2015, citing an unsustainable event model as reason for the cancellation.

In a release by the company, the team states that despite significant effort and investment, the event’s current format requires a “complete reinvention in order to both meet the needs of the market and operate successfully”.

It adds that the thought process has begun on how to deliver the “designEX” for the future.

“We are proud of the role that designEX has played in the design industry over the past 26 years and although the exhibition will cease in its current format, we will be working with the design industry on how we can reimagine designEX over the coming months,” Soren Morgaard, event manager said.

The announcement, made yesterday 24 November, comes just weeks after the annual exhibition was launched with news of its inaugural affiliation with Melbourne International Design Week.

The event was supposed to happen from 13-15 May 2015 in Melbourne.
