CPB Contractors, part of the (CIMIC Group), has been selected by Queensland Corrective Services to deliver significant facility upgrades at the Capricornia Correctional Centre.

The design and construct contract is worth about of $145 million, with construction expected to commence in early 2018 and conclude in 2020.

According to CPB Contractors managing director Juan Santamaria, “Our team is committed to developing increased local job and work opportunities for Queensland’s Capricorn Coast residents and businesses as a priority, and to ensure that all project objectives are achieved.”

The upgrade will include new and upgraded facilities at the Capricornia Correctional Centre in order to support an increase in capacity and ongoing prison services, will also feature a minimum of 164 additional residential cells in new buildings, 100 bunks in secure cells, a new residential officers station, and a site-wide electronic security upgrade.

Located in north Queensland, some 20km north of Rockhampton in Queensland, Capricornia Correctional Centre provides facilities for remand, reception and sentenced high and low security prison.
