Clive Wilkinson Architects has created a bespoke desk that sits all of New York ad agency, Barbarian Group’s 125 employees.

The desk’s continuous design is based on a Fiat race track, with the work surface running along a horizontal plane, occasionally sloping upwards and dropping down to create archways.

The arched sections open up circulation throughout the office, with the absence of traditional walls allowing the various divisions to flow into one another.

Bench seating and smaller tables have been built into the 335 metre structure, offering alternative areas for employees to sit and have meetings.

Automotive robots were employed to laser cut the MDF plywood and plate steel components which make up the desk.

The pieces were slotted together on-site and finished with a resin to create a seamless surface.
