The Bee Breeders’ Melbourne Tattoo Academy architecture competition is after a building in the heart of Melbourne that can operate as a school for the art of tattooing.

Participants are asked to create a design for a complex where the art of tattooing can be practiced and the stigma broken. The building should offer space for workshops, accommodation in the form of a hostel, a public gallery/meeting area and a conceptual café.

The academy is looking for bold and creative designs, with the potential for it to become a recognisable landmark. There is a prize fund of US $6,000, with the 1st prize winner receiving US $3,000.

Registration for the Melbourne Tattoo Academy architecture competition is open now until 21 September. Winners will be announced on 26 October.
