The Paddington Reservoir Gardens restoration project in Sydney has received the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA) 2010 Australian Medal for Landscape Architecture.

"The magical restoration of the Paddington Reservoir Gardens provides much needed new open space, revives a State Heritage listed site and has created an exciting cultural venue for the local community to enjoy," says Lord Mayor Clover Moore.

"The park on the reservoir roof has been completely rebuilt and a stunning new sunken garden has been established in the reservoir's western chamber.

"We congratulate James Mather Delaney Design and Tonkin Zulaikha Greer Architects for their outstanding work on this prestigious project and in helping the City bring this project to life."

The City's transformation of the former Water Police Site in Pyrmont to a waterside public park, Pirrama Park, also won the National Landscape Architecture Award for Planning and our dramatic upgrade of Redfern Park was awarded the National Landscape Architecture Urban Design Award.

Paddington Reservoir Gardens, Pirrama Park and Redfern Park and Oval were recently acknowledged for design excellence at the NSW Architecture Awards and are in the running for the national awards which will be announced in October.

Paddington Reservoir Gardens was also awarded an International Architecture Award at The Chicago Athenaeum and The Urban Centre for Architecture Art Design awards in July.
