Brickworks has recently acquired Girotto (VIC, NSW and QLD), Gocrete (WA) and Sasso Precast (NSW).

Brickworks brands include Austral Bricks, Austral Masonry and Bristile Roofing.

"The Girotto and Gocrete businesses have substantial synergies with the Sasso Precast business in Sydney. The additional volume through the most advanced precast plant in Australia, will further strengthen Austral’s lowest cost producer position in New South Wales," says Lindsay Partridge, managing director of Brickworks.

"There is substantial upside in precast concrete panels as market acceptance is increasing, and the Australian market has enormous scope before we reach the levels of usage seen in Europe and North America."

A new division, Austral Precast, will have a combined operation capacity of 675,000 sqm per annum. Gocrete operates in Western Australia and commissioned an automated precast plant in 2008.

The plants produce both walling, and flooring components. Capital upgrades to the Gocrete plant in Perth are planned after completion.

Planning has commenced for the construction of automated production facilities in Brisbane and Melbourne.

When completed, the facilities will provide Brickworks with automated facilities serving the four largest markets in Australia.
