The Australian Institute of Architects has announced that entries for this year’s Bates Smart Award for Architecture in Media are now open.

Targeted at journalists, editors and producers, the Award is an integral part of the Victorian program, and for the first time in 34 years, has changed its criteria.

In 2015, entries from electronic, print, specialist, popular and online media, as well as specialist architectural and design focused public events are eligible to enter. Submissions must have been broadcast, published, circulated, or have occurred in Victoria within the 12 months prior to the closing date of the Award.

Applicants must display how in the past year they have encouraged high quality debate about architecture in Australia through their own personal creativity and presentation, with the winner to have brought architecture to the attention of the general public, and drawn attention to the high level of skill involved in the profession.

The winners will be announced at the 2015 Victorian Architecture Awards Presentation Dinner on Friday, June 25, at Peninsula at Central Pier, Docklands, Melbourne.

Entries close on Wednesday April 1 and cost $60. To find out more or enter, please visit www.architecture.com.au/Victorian-Awards.
