Deputy Premier for NSW Andrew Stoner has announced the conception of a state wide Creative Achievement Awards that will showcase outstanding creative industries professionals. 

“From architecture and music to fashion, animation and the many other creative careers, the Creative Achievement Awards will put a spotlight on the strength of the NSW creative industries,” Stoner announced today.

“NSW is Australia’s creative industries capital, accounting for around 60 per cent of the nation's total creative services exports for 2012-13, now valued at close to $1.6 billion,” Said Stoner. 

Nominations are now being sought for the following new Awards: 

  •  The NSW Creative Laureate – Recognising people, teams, or organisations that have demonstrated significant leadership and made a significant contribution to increasing the global profile of NSW Creative Industries.

     

  • The NSW Emerging Creative Talent Award – Recognising people, teams, or organisations that are considered emerging in their sectors, have demonstrated leadership in originality and innovation, and contributed to raising the global profile of the NSW Creative Industries. This Award will offer support for future development with a cash prize of $15,000. 

 

The judging panel will be comprised of the following creative industries representatives:

Edwina McCann – Editor-in-Chief, Vogue Australia

Bryan Brown – actor and director

Elizabeth Ann Macgregor – Director, MCA

Professor Roy Green – Dean, UTS Business School

Andrew Johnstone and Murray Bell – Directors, Semi-Permanent
