Australian architectural blog Butterpaper has posted some tips for anyone considering spending some time in the search for the missing Malaysia Airlines flight.

Since Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 and its 239 passengers vanished from radar while en route to Beijing from Kuala Lumpur, thousands of web users have logged on to crowdsource website Tomnod, volunteering to scour satellite images uploaded to the site and to then provide suggestions as to the plane's whereabouts.

Users are asked to use the system to circle and tag what they think are irregularities in the images, such as plan wreckage or oil slicks, with individual campaigns plotted out and overlayed into the interactive map.
