AIA names best architecture in country NSW

    Nicholas Rider

Seventeen awards and commendations have been handed out at the Australian Institute of Architects’ (AIA) recent NSW Country Division Architecture Awards.

Among the awarded projects were several from Bangalow-based practice, DFJ Architects: Bangalow Farmhouse, Ballina Sea Rescue Tower, Ocean Shores Soccer Club, and Possum Shoot Shed. In total, the firm won three categories and received two commendations.

Another notable project was The Joint by Joint Modular. The small modular, semi-prefabricated home in Thirroul won both the James Barnet Award and the Residential Architecture – Affordable Housing (Under $35,000) categories.

Other winners from the awards included Sampson House by Source Architects, Lue Road Residence by Cameron Anderson Architects, and Hidden Studio by Harley Graham Architects.
