The winners of this year’s Professional Competition of the Sony World Photography Awards have been revealed. All of the winning entries – including those in the architecture category – were announced on 20 April by the World Photography Organisation.

City aerial photographs by Chinese photographer Dongni were selected from a shortlist of eight photographic series to take out the architecture category of the global competition.

Second place went to a series that explores the landscape of western China. The third-place prize was awarded to a collection of photographs depicting neon-lit brothels in Greece.

An exhibition at Somerset House in London will showcase all of the winning and shortlisted works between 21 April and 7 May 2017.
