Melbourne is set to host the inaugural Australian International Furniture Exhibition (AIFE) from July 11 – 13

This year, the Royal Exhibition Building in Melbourne will be transformed into a 30,000sqm ‘display home’ that will feature Australian furniture for every room in the home.

Organised by the Australian Furniture Association (AFA), the AIFE is expected to attract over 10,000 visitors.

AFA says the event will showcase the pinnacle of Australian furniture design and manufacturing trends for both residential and commercial spaces.

Showcase spaces will divide the exhibition hall, and each space will feature Australian made furniture and furnishings including flooring, wall and decorative elements.

Each showcase will be designed to emphasise the quality, diversity and beauty of Australian furniture, with a focus on the industry’s evolution, innovation, talent and technologies.

Practical use of new products will run throughout the exhibit, as will the design aesthetic for which the AFA says Australia is recognised internationally.

2014 Australian Furniture Industry Award (AFIA) nominated pieces will also be on display, with a newly introduced People’s Choice Award category for exhibition visitors to vote upon.

Pre Bookings for exhibition spaces will open to AFA members Wednesday, April 9.
