Nominations have opened for the 2016 Sustainability Awards, Australia’s leading showcase of the building projects, products and companies at the forefront of ecologically sustainable design.

Now in its 10th year, the Sustainability Awards has grown to be one of the premier events on the industry calendar, attracting the highest calibre of entries and attendees to the prestigious annual awards night.

In celebration of its 10th anniversary, a range of new category awards and special prizes have been added to the program in a bid to better represent and reward those committed to promoting genuine progress in Australia’s green building industry.

New building categories include Office & Retail Fitout, Heritage buildings and Industrial & Transport buildings, while the two additional special awards include Best Newcomer and Lifetime Achievement.

Riding the wave of 2015’s success, which saw an inspiring multi-residential project in Western Australia take out the Best of the Best Award, this year’s  program is expected to attract entries of the highest calibre that have made a real difference to the nation’s built environment.

“If the response in the last few years is anything to go by, we can expect to see Australia’s most sustainable buildings and industry innovations once again,” says Nathan Johnson, editor of Architecture & Design and Infolink - BPN magazine.

“And once again, we’ll be publishing many articles throughout the year to share details from these leading projects with the wider industry and public.”
