“If there is any power in design that’s the power of synthesis. The more complex the problem, the more the need for simplicity.” - 2016 Pritzker Architecture Prize Laureate Alejandro Aravena.

In his TED Talk, Chilean architect Alejandro Aravena talks about the global challenge of urbanism and, using some of his projects in his home country for reference, showcases the design solutions he believes are applicable in creating healthy, sustainably communities across the world.

He touches on some of the projects that helped him earn the 2016 Pritzker Architecture Prize including the Quinta Monroy social housing project, the Pontifical Catholic University’s Innovation Center UC – Anacelto Angelini and his masterplan for rebuilding a resilient coastline in Constitución Chile after it was hit by an earthquake.
