Art Series Hotels offer accommodation inspired by and dedicated to Australian contemporary artists.

According to the boutique chain of hotels: “[Each establishment] takes design inspiration from the namesake artist. With original artworks and prints adorning the walls and halls, the multifaceted art inspired experience is complete with dedicated art channels, art libraries, art tours and art utensils on supply.”

The newest in the series is The Chen, located in the Melbourne suburb of Box Hill. The hotel forms part of the Whitehorse Towers, the tallest development outside of the Melbourne CBD.

The eighth member of the Art Series family was designed by Peddle Thorp Architects, and takes inspiration from Chinese Australian abstract artist, Zhong Chen. In particular, the hotel takes its design inspiration from Chen’s ‘Kung Fu’ series.

A mixture of Chen’s work features throughout the five-storey, 100-room hotel. The hotel’s design also incorporates a rooftop pool, gym, conference and event facilities, restaurants – and of course, the Art Series’ signature dedicated art channel and in-house art libraries.

“I have lived and worked in Box Hill for nearly a decade. I am passionate about my community and its emergence as a cultural powerhouse outside of Melbourne,” says Chen.

“To have a hotel of such significance, opening in the year of my birth sign is a true honour.”

The other Art Series Hotels are located in Queensland, South Australia, and elsewhere in Victoria.
