The Pellicano Group has won the contract to deliver a $44 million conference centre and hotel facility as part of the redevelopment of the Ballarat Station Precinct .

DBI architects provided the designs for the winning tender which is available for public viewing and comment on the Engage Victoria website.

The development will encompass a modern 4.5 star 77-room hotel to be run by Quest; a 1,700sqm conference centre, a 300-seat theatrette and a 300-seat banquet room within the Goods Shed; 900sqm of retail and dining options within the Goods Shed and a public plaza for community events; and 420 car parks with 270 for commuters and 150 for hotel patrons, with scope for future expansion. The conference facilities will be operated by the Spotless Group under their Epicure brand.

The project has received $25 million from the Labor Government’s Regional Jobs and Infrastructure Fund, and work is expected to start in the second half of 2017, with 140 jobs created during construction and 30 ongoing jobs once completed.

The concept plans for the project are available for viewing and comment online. An open day is also being organised on Saturday 3 December at Ballarat Library from 12.00 pm to 4.00 pm to discuss the project with the community.
