The Monier SOLARtile is an integrated solar roof tile solution that reduces customers’ need to buy electricity off the grid, lowering their costs of living, without compromising on aesthetics.

Taking into consideration CSR Monier’s social and environmental obligations, the SOLARtile’s frame is manufactured from BMC, a material that requires five to seven times less energy to produce parts than that of its counterparts, although it contains the same strength characteristics.

Using BMC has meant that the SOLARtile weighs 25 per cent less per square metre than concrete roof tiles, eliminating the need to strengthen roof trusses to support extra loads on the roof.

At the same time, being a non-conductive material, BMC has reduced installation time and material, as the solar array does not need to be earthed, unlike traditional bolt on panels. The Modular design of the tiles also allow smaller roof sections to be utilised, effectively accommodating for the installation of more Kw.

As a two-part system, the sub-frame of the SOLARtile is installed on the roof battens with a platform containing the solar laminate connected. This two-part system ensures that Australian standards for roofing installation (AS2055) and electrical connections (AS5033) are met.

The Monier SOLARtile can be installed in all regions of Australia without clips no matter the wind speed.

INITIATIVES

  • Roof integrity remains intact, so there is no need to cut, drill or grind roof tiles to attach panels. Instead, the SOLARtiles replace the roof tiles
  • By replacing the roof tiles, each Kw of SOLARtiles installed saves 12m2 of concrete roof tiles
  • The solar laminate comes with a 25 year performance warranty backed by CSR, guaranteeing that the SOLARtiles will be at least 80 percent as efficient as the day they were installed after 25 years of utility
  • The product is part of the PV Cycle program, whereby it is recycled by the manufacturer once the solar laminate is past its useful life
  • Clean Energy Council approved
  • Safety is ensured, with no opportunity for debris build ups under the panels that could create water pooling or possible leaks
