Uridan waterless urinals were specified as part of a series of water saving initiatives implemented at a commercial building in Sydney.
Located 13 kilometres north of Sydney’s CBD, the commercial development has been designed as a state-of-the-art facility with an emphasis on open plan design, shared spaces and environmental outcomes.
Water savings initiatives introduced by the organisation included a sophisticated water harvesting solution with a capacity to store 1.6 million litres of rainwater in underground water tanks for toilet flushing and irrigation. The rainwater harvesting program aims to achieve a 90% recycling target.
With sustainability and resource savings continuing to drive the organisation’s operations, Uridan waterless urinals were installed in 2013 to deliver water savings and the associated embodied energy.
The organisation installed 120 Uridan waterless urinals, achieving annual water savings in excess of 7,200kL.
While water savings may have been the primary objective, the organisation has also been able to benefit from a reduction in waste water and energy usage after installing Uridan urinals.
This building is an excellent example of how simple water management solutions can boost sustainability outcomes.
